What good control means

Are you in control of your life, your business, your health, your family?

Control is simply the ability to start, change and stop motion or cycles of action. This could be the simple cycle of going for a jog, preparing and eating a meal or a whole production line.  This applies when starting, changing and stopping people, employees, children as well as machinery, your equipment, your car.

If you can start something or someone, change their position in space or change what they are doing and stop the action then it can be said that you have control over that thing or that person.

To change also means to maintain. If you have not checked the brakes on your car then you may have difficulty stopping the car.

Control is closely linked to knowledge and responsibility.  The more knowledge you have, the more control and the more responsibility you are willing to take the greater control.  Each of these is tightly linked as when one goes up the other two go up.  The converse is also true.

Control has become a negative word in our society, people are called “too controlling”, it is bad to control things.  However this is not true.  There is such a thing as good and bad control.  Unfortunately due to the use of force and manipulation to much bad control is used both at home and at work.  Good control involves communication and the ability to get willingness from people to do things.  This is not easy in our society where everyone is individual and no one wants to be told what to do.

If you can control something it is yours but this comes with great responsibility to do good with that something or some person that benefits all.
